Nursery Team
Please describe the service your ministry team provides.
What does a typical volunteer commitment look like?
What's a current or ongoing need within your ministry?
What do you find personally rewarding about serving within your ministry?
What's the next step for someone interested in helping with your ministry?
- Nursery is a commitment that is only required during second service, and you’ll always have another volunteer in there to partner with you to help share the responsibility. Our team members head over about 10 minutes before service starts and welcome in our church’s littlest members and greet their parents to ask about any specifics (diaper-changing/toileting needs, bottle/food needs, etc.) and then we send off their parents to go spend time with the Lord with the reassurance that their child is well taken care of for the next hour-hour and a half. This ministry is so important because of that reassurance to parents that they can go focus on getting what their heart needs without being anxious or distracted of their children’s care and wellbeing. It’s also important because we’re able to show love to the smallest and most precious members of our body and help plant a seed in their hearts and minds and prepare them for the transition into Sunday school when they come of age.
What does a typical volunteer commitment look like?
- A typical commitment would be one Sunday a month, but ideally, if we can get more volunteers, that commitment would lessen to once every 6-8 weeks.
What's a current or ongoing need within your ministry?
- The most pressing need of the nursery ministry at the current moment is more volunteers to lighten the load. Other than that, a goal/hope (wouldn’t use the word “need” necessarily) would be to spruce up the space, so prayer for the funds/means to do that would be appreciated.
What do you find personally rewarding about serving within your ministry?
- It’s extremely rewarding to me to be able to give back to my community and church family who have given so much to me, and I feel like a very common fact about me is that I love children, especially babies. :) It’s a huge blessing to be able to get to know these children and then watch them grow up in our community and come into their faith. It’s also a nice way to get to know their parents, who are also important members of our body.
